Welcome!

Dear Friend:

Eight is not enough!

Eight Republican women elected to state-level office is not enough!

Eight Republican women elected to state-level office can do many things, but they need the support of many more talented women from around Michigan to carry on the banner of responsible government.

In the 2005-2006 legislative session, Michigan had six Republican women in the Senate and six in the House for a total of 12. We now have just seven Republican women in the Legislature and one in the Executive Branch.

In 2008, when the Michigan House of Representatives is up for re-election, two of the four Republican women Representatives will be term-limited, leaving us with potentially just five Republican women serving in elected office in Michigan. In 2010, it's even worse. All three Republican women serving in the Senate will be term-limited, and if no new Republican women are elected to the House in 2008, there will be just one remaining incumbent Republican woman in the Michigan Legislature.

Recruitment may help boost our numbers, but the biggest challenges many candidates face are money and womanpower. For these and many reasons, you are cordially invited to join our Republican women's caucus. Our sole purpose is to elect Republican women to statewide office. GOP Women Matter will be dedicated to electing Republican women who will make a difference in public policy, leadership and, most importantly, mentoring new women legislative members.

The past elections have shown us we need more Republican women in state government! Surely you agree that Eight is NOT Enough. We need your help today to identify, recruit and serve as role models to Republican women wanting to serve in elected office.

Please join us in this exciting effort to ensure that our voices are increased and heard in the future.  We will keep you informed of future meetings and events for GOP Women Matter.

We look forward to working side by side to empower women in public service.
